About This Guide
Boise-proper primary; a small number of Treasure Valley picks (Garden City, Meridian) included only where the category genuinely lacked in-city depth, noted by district rather than presented as downtown Boise.
What the Guide Looked For and Didn't Find
The mandatory anarchist/radical/infoshop search found no storefront in Boise. Boise DSA organizes actively but has no physical space -- the city's radical-left infrastructure runs through organizing rather than a retail counterspace, unlike Salt Lake City's Boing! Anarchist Collective.
Category 10 carries four picks, not five. Boise has no dedicated synth shop or hackerspace with published public open-hours, unlike Salt Lake City's Squarewave Sound and 801 Labs. Maker Shop Boise is a genuinely excellent 7,000 sq ft facility, but it's a woodworking shop, not electronics -- padding to five with it would misrepresent the city.
Corrections & Live-Status Caveats
Napoleon Dynamite (2004) is commonly but incorrectly assumed to be a Boise production. It was filmed in Preston, ID, roughly 280 miles east.
Doug Martsch (Built to Spill) and Brian 'Pushead' Schroeder (Septic Death) are both strongly Boise-associated (formed/based their bands there) but their exact birthplaces could not be confirmed from available sources; described here by association, not nativity.
Boise State MakerLab is primarily for university affiliates. Non-affiliates should email ahead to confirm equipment access before visiting.

Ranked by direction requests — the only measure of emphasis the export carries, and truncated to roughly the top ten per city, so this is where the days went most, not everywhere. Provenance is matched after the fact, not recorded at the time: the export has no per-item save timestamps and the lists were edited during the trips, so a place saved while standing in it cannot be told from one saved before leaving. “On my own list” is therefore an upper bound, and “found there” a floor.
